Machine Gun Kelly on Hot 97
I recently got into MGK (Machine Gun Kelly). I had been hearing about him for a while but I didn't pay much mind to him. While flicking through channels a while back I went to MTV Hits and his video "Wild Boy" featuring Wacka Flocka was on. I instantly loved the song off the energy he gave in the video. His look, the wildness and freedom in the video caught my attention; plus the song was pretty good.
Like I do any artist I gave him a try and researched him and his music. Various interviews, blog posts, and his music sold me. I truly enjoy his music and his mentality. Even his tweets are hilarious, he says things I would say.
In the interview below, conducted February 3rd 2012, I feel like they didn't give him fair respect off of one factor, how do you interview someone and NOT research them? How do you not know the work artists that you are interviewing? Rosenberg compares MGK to Yelawolf and MGK comments how his music sounds nothing like Yelawolf which is correct. The two artists have nothing in common lyrically, from the way they rap to what they rap about. I believe it is unfair that just because they are both white that they get automatically compared.
Its 2012, Eminem is not the only white rapper and rap is definitely not about skin color, it is about potential and message. ABout being a voice people can relate to and/or enjoy. I agree with the statements MGK makes in this interview, and I agree with Rosenberg when he says that MGK is young and that his time of glory is coming. But if you truly gave MGK even a little background check you would applaud the accomplishments he has made at his young age and the vasts following he has.
Shout out to MGK for being a 1990 baby! This generation is not like the others. We are more motivated and more determine than previous years. This era is all new and changed, music is not the same, style, art, fashion is not the same. We are introducing the new wave for future generations to build on and branch a new.

Jay Z Covers TheSource Magazine September Issue
The almighty Jay Z covers The Source magazine for September. Its been 10 years since The Blueprint first drop. It also seems as though that Complex magazine is also doing a Jay Z cover, but with Reasonable Doubt. I must say, i love every album Jay Z has dropped, but in my opinion Reasonable Doubt is hands down his masterpiece.
Remember the Jay Z x Rhapsody commercial? Classic and epic!

Beyonce At Roseland
Thursday August 18th I got to watch Beyonce perform at the Roseland Ballroom. I was sectioned in the VIP balcony, it was so nice. I sat right behind Calvin Klein and Jay Z, across from me was Lady Gaga who wore this huge contraption on her head. I'm not fond of crowds but Beyonce's performance was so spectacular that I wish I was in the crowd, close and personal. Beyonce is definitely one of my role models and I was so honored to be there. That night was life giving.
My favorite part is when she broke down why she named her album "4". Obama was born August 4th, he was elected November 4th, he's our 44th President. Beyonce's mom was born January 4th, Beyonce herself was born September 4th, her man was born December 4th, and their anniversay is April 4th. By the way, my favorite number is 4, I was born April 4th 1990 (4.4.90) and Jay Z and Beyonce have always been my role models, way before they were together.
Unfortunately 1. I wasn't allowed to record the concert and 2. my camera and it's lens was "too big" to use, so I was only able to use it in the beginning; so enjoy what I was able to capture.

Jay Z is Taking the Bank to the Bank

According to AllHipHop Jay-Z in 2007 announced he and a couple of investors were planning to an ultra luxurious hotel in Manhattan called The J Hotel. Well due to economic times deal never went through but the Bank still wants there money.
"Jay-Z filed a lawsuit in Federal Court in New York claiming that Highland Capital Management is attempting to bleed him over a hotel that was never opened. Jay-Z is suing Highland and NexBank, claiming the companies deliberately dragged on renegotiations of a $52 million loan, which cost the mogul $20,000 per day. Jay-Z seeks a declaratory judgment stating that he has fulfilled his obligations in addition to seeking $3.7 million in damages because of the additional interest and others cost incurred under the agreement."
I don’t know who’s wrong in this situation but both sides want their money.

Jay-Z Defends Kanye In The Febuary Issue Of Interview

Jay-Z stands up for his homie Kanye West in recent interview.
MITCHELL: Sometimes his passions ruin him.
JAY-Z: Yeah, which is great. I like that, man! I really do. I mean, no one’s walking around here perfect. Everyone’s gonna make mistakes. That’s part of how you learn. I think Kanye . . . Well, I know he said what he believed. He was telling the truth.
MITCHELL: To which event are you referring?
JAY-Z: I’m talking about the Taylor Swift thing. I just think the timing of what he did was wrong, and that, of course, overshadowed everything. He believed that “Single Ladies” [by Jay-Z’s wife, BeyoncĂ©] was a better video. I believed that. I think a lot of people believed that. You can’t give someone Video of the Year if they don’t win Best Female Video. I thought Best Female Video was something you won on the way to Video of the Year. But, hey, I guess it wasn’t—and that’s a whole other conversation about awards shows and artists.
MITCHELL: You’ve always had interesting takes on awards shows. I remember back in the day, you talked about the Grammys and said, “Well, they don’t take rap seriously, so why should I go? They don’t know what we do—and they don’t care about what we do.”
JAY-Z: It’s just honest, man—they really didn’t. I’ve always seen awards shows for what they are. For the awards show people, it’s about sponsorships—it’s not about recognizing anyone’s art, because if you get into the business of recognizing art, then you have to get it right all the time. You have to get it right. You can’t have the woman who wins Video of the Year not win Best Female Video. I mean, Herbie Hancock is great, but you can’t have him beat the Kanye album that year. I mean, come on, seriously. That can’t happen. That just lets me know that the people who get to pick these ballots just check the only name they know. I think that’s what’s happening with rap music now.
MITCHELL: Yeah?
JAY-Z: I think it’s a bunch of people who don’t know anything about rap, and have probably never even heard a Kanye West album, are doing the nominating, and they say, “Kanye West. I know that name. That’s the guy who made the comments about the president that time! He’s nominated!” That’s how the process works, and I think that’s part of Kanye’s frustration. Me, I look at it for what it is. But Kanye is so passionate about it. I mean, the guy shot three “Jesus Walks” videos. Three. Two of them he shot with his own money just so he could get it right. He really cares about it. And then, back to the original point, his passion kicks in and he takes things too far . . . He doesn’t realize that that girl, Taylor Swift, is just like him. That was her moment. It wasn’t her fault. She didn’t do anything. It’s not her awards show. So he just did the wrong thing to the wrong person at the wrong time.
I like the fact Jay-Z has stuck up for Kanye throughout this whole situation. However, do you think Kanye was right?

Jay-Z Responds To All The Rumors Surrounding “On To The Next” Video
During a recent interview on the Ed Lover Show, Jay-Z clears the air with the recent rumors circulating around him and his newest video “On To The Next”.
"I think I need to remind people I’m from Marcy Projects. You can’t get into those prestigious clubs. I can’t even get into the golf club in Palm Springs."
"I really think it’s really silly, y’know. For the record, y’know, I of course believe in God, but I believe in one God, y’know. If people must know my religious beliefs, I believe in one God. I don’t believe in religion. I don’t believe in Christians or Muslims. I think all that separates people. I think it’s one God. I think it’s all the same God, and I don’t believe in Hell. But as far as God, of course I believe in God. Am I a part of some sect or cult? That sounds stupid to me. It’s like ignorant to even say, and umm… I guess that’ll be the last time I address that."
Also in the studio, Young Jeezy and Trey Songz. Check out the full interview below.

Jay-Z "On To The Next One" Analyzed
The first video is the original, and the the second is what a viewer analyzed. I really don't believe in this Free Mansonary crap they're throwing on Jay-Z, and a lot of spectators are saying this video is confirming that Jay-Z is one, but my opinion honestly is that this video is Jay-Z being a smart ass, the fact that he did this video right after the "proof" video of how and why he's a king mason is comical. Especially the fact that this video has NOTHING to do with the song, I believe it was made to irritate all the fools who believe this Devil nonsense. We all know Jay-Z rarely comments on rumors and beef, he just makes smart remarks, this video = smart remark. I'm not here to tell you what to believe, but if this what you wanna occupy and stress your mind with cool, just know theres children starving and dying in parts of the world, people are losing homes, and American soldiers are still in the Middle East.
