Nicki Minaj for GLAMOUR Magazine

Early today Nicki Minaj RT'd @KaitlynMorris twitpic of a photo from Nicki's Glamour shoot. Nicki then said "Lmao. Reading these replies. Go ahead! Send me pics of yourselves in your own fridge barbz! It could be the new planking! Lmaooooooooo." I do believe the Barbie Nation will make this "Fridgeing" a new trend, lol we'll see.

Jay Z Covers TheSource Magazine September Issue

The almighty Jay Z covers The Source magazine for September. Its been 10 years since The Blueprint first drop. It also seems as though that Complex magazine is also doing a Jay Z cover, but with Reasonable Doubt. I must say, i love every album Jay Z has dropped, but in my opinion Reasonable Doubt is hands down his masterpiece.

Remember the Jay Z x Rhapsody commercial? Classic and epic!

Mimic Octopus

I saw an gif image on tumblr and it blew my mind. So I had to get to googling! This video is a must watch! It is a shape shifting octopus!!!

It goes by Indonesian Mimic Octopus, Shape-shifting Octopus, whatever the name it is truly amazing. I changes shape, color, size, all in survival or hunt. It imitates snakes, wish, plants, it even can change its texture to that of what its copying.

"The Mimic Octopus, Thaumoctopus mimicus, is a species of octopus that has a strong ability to mimic other creatures. It grows up to 60 cm (2 feet) in length. Its normal colouring consists of brown and white stripes or spots.

Living in the tropical seas of South East Asia, it was not discovered officially until 1998, off the coast of Sulawesi. The octopus mimics the physical likeness and movements of more than fifteen different species, including sea snakes, lionfish, flatfish, brittle stars, giant crabs, sea shells, stingrays, flounders, jellyfish, sea anemones, and mantis shrimp. It accomplishes this by contorting its body and arms, and changing colour.

Although all octopuses can change colour and texture, and many can blend with the sea floor, appearing as rocks, the mimic octopus is the first octopus species ever observed to impersonate other animals."

“For my film portrait of Sasha Grey, I wanted to focus on her expressive and psychological transformation into a cinematic actor, separate from the cues that have associated Sasha with her previous career as a performance artist working within the adult film world.” –Richard Phillips

Hurricane Irene and the Prisoners on New York’s Rikers Island

“We are not evacuating Rikers Island,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a news conference this afternoon. Bloomberg annouced a host of extreme measures being taken by New York City in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Irene, including a shutdown of the public transit system and the unprecedented mandatory evacuation of some 250,000 people from low-lying areas. But in response to a reporter’s question, the mayor stated in no uncertain terms (and with more than a hint of annoyance) that one group of New Yorkers on vulnerable ground will be staying put.

According to the New York City Department of Corrections’ own website, more than three-quarters of Rikers Island’s 400 acres are built on landfill–which is generally thought to be more vulnerable to natural disasters. Its ten jails have a capacity of close to 17,000 inmates, and normally house at least 12,000, including juveniles and large numbers of prisoners with mental illness–not to mention pre-trial detainees who have yet to be convicted of any crime. There are also hundreds of corrections officers at work on the island.

For a warning of what can happen to prisoners in a hurricane we need only look back at Katrina, and the horrific conditions endured by inmates at Orleans Parish Prison in New Orleans. According to a report produced by the ACLU:

"[A] culture of neglect was evident in the days before Katrina, when the sheriff declared that the prisoners would remain “where they belong,” despite the mayor’s decision to declare the city’s first-ever mandatory evacuation. OPP even accepted prisoners, including juveniles as young as 10, from other facilities to ride out the storm.

As floodwaters rose in the OPP buildings, power was lost, and entire buildings were plunged into darkness. Deputies left their posts wholesale, leaving behind prisoners in locked cells, some standing in sewage-tainted water up to their chests …

Prisoners went days without food, water and ventilation, and deputies admit that they received no emergency training and were entirely unaware of any evacuation plan. Even some prison guards were left locked in at their posts to fend for themselves, unable to provide assistance to prisoners in need."

Beyonce At Roseland

Thursday August 18th I got to watch Beyonce perform at the Roseland Ballroom. I was sectioned in the VIP balcony, it was so nice. I sat right behind Calvin Klein and Jay Z, across from me was Lady Gaga who wore this huge contraption on her head. I'm not fond of crowds but Beyonce's performance was so spectacular that I wish I was in the crowd, close and personal. Beyonce is definitely one of my role models and I was so honored to be there. That night was life giving.

My favorite part is when she broke down why she named her album "4". Obama was born August 4th, he was elected November 4th, he's our 44th President. Beyonce's mom was born January 4th, Beyonce herself was born September 4th, her man was born December 4th, and their anniversay is April 4th. By the way, my favorite number is 4, I was born April 4th 1990 (4.4.90) and Jay Z and Beyonce have always been my role models, way before they were together.

Unfortunately 1. I wasn't allowed to record the concert and 2. my camera and it's lens was "too big" to use, so I was only able to use it in the beginning; so enjoy what I was able to capture.

I was sitting in the dentist office the other day watchhing MTV Hits and this video came on. I thought it was an actual movie trailer but then I realized the music video for the song is a movie trailer. Clever. Enjoy! Oh and try to pay attention to the song too lol.

My Kirby Tattoo

I recently got a new tattoo on my wrist this weekend by Ralfy @RalfyREVOLVER. Yes that is Kirby from Nintendo. For those of you not familiar with Kirby I'm going to give you a little run down on him and the game.

"Kirby is described in his games as a young male pink ball, who is a citizen of Dream Land on the planet Pop Star. In the main game, he almost always has the same abilities; he can walk, run, jump, float, slide, and inhale, spit out, or devour his enemies.

Kirby often journeys across the planet Pop Star, defeating antagonistic forces such as the greedy King Dedede or the evil Dark Matter. On other occasions, he encounters the enigmatic Meta Knight. To defeat his foes, he uses his signature ability of inhaling large objects and spitting them out with great force. From Kirby's Adventure onward, Kirby was able to gain the abilities of the enemies he swallowed, better known as his Copy Abilities. In several games in the series, he obtains a mystical weapon during the climax of the battle against his enemy; this weapon is usually required to defeat the final boss." - Source

In most fighting video games the hero is usually intimadating, even Sonic the Hedge seems more rough than Kirby. But the truth is Kirby, this cute little pink puff ball, has the ability to easily eiher toss his enemies and demolish them, or inhabit their powers through their death. So the moral of the story and why I got the tattoo, do not underestimate your enemies. The thing you take lightly can be your demise.

On This Day: 6.?.11

On this Day I wore a white linen Ralph Lauren button up, white Polo shirts, dark gree suede Pelle Mode heels, a navy Tahari blazer, and my Forever 21 geek glasses. My friend Nijsha, Hillary, and I just had a good day, strolling in the city, being fat, and meeting people. Good day.

I wonder if Hillary's aim was to get up Nijsha's skirt....that would've been mine.
